2 Corinthians: Session 3 (April 27)

Session 3: What can we do about it? (2 Corinthians 8-9)

Rev Dr Lim Kar Yong

  1. In what ways do you think our giving (whether to the church or to other Christian organizations/NGOs) can be one that transcends ethnic, geographical, and social economic boundaries? Suggest some projects or examples.
  2. The speaker mentions about considering leaving behind a legacy for a cause that is close to your heart. What do you think about this suggestion? Is this something you feel you might be comfortable doing?

2 Corinthians: Session 2 (April 20)

Session 2: A New Creation: What does this mean? (2 Cor 5:17)

2 Corinthians 5:17

Rev Dr Lim Kar Yong

Paul refers to the Corinthians as “our letter, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all;  and you show that you are a letter of Christ.” (2 Cor 3:3).

1) If your church is a letter written to be read by all, what would be the content you might find in this letter? Is this a positive or negative letter? Why do you say so? Please give some examples.

2) What are some of the practical ways you as a member of this community can do to build it up as a “new creation” (2 Cor 5:17) to ensure that it is “a letter of Christ” that honours God?

2 Corinthians: Session 1 (April 6)

Session 1: Sufferings: Can sufferings have their purpose and benefits for others?

2 Corinthians 1

Rev Dr Lim Kar Yong

  1. What does it mean to “share . . . in Christ’s sufferings” (2 Cor 1:5)? Does it mean Christ’s sufferings were not enough for our redemption, so we need to help with our own suffering?
  2. Reflect on the implications of 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 for your own life today. In what ways can your sufferings be the source of encouragement or comfort to others?
  3. Consider what you have learned in tonight’s lesson that might lead you to praise God and trust in his gracious promises.
