The team caught the 7:05am Airasia flight from Penang to arrive at 9am in Kuching. Because it was the start of the Hari Raya long weekend, all bus tickets out of Kuching were sold out. Thus Ps Peter hired a van to pick the team up from the airport for the ride to Lubok Subong to meet him.
The journey to Lubok Subong took slightly more than 4 hours, which included a toilet stop and a wrong turn. The team finally arrived in Lubok Subong at about 2:30pm and had to immediately jump in to the longboats (perahu) that were already waiting for them. Thank God that they were able to arrive at rumah Payan longhouse before night fall as it would be almost impossible to navigate the longboats upstream in the dark.

Ps Hendry started off the evening’s program with a time of praise and worship. Although the worship was simple, it was very real, as they really worshiped from the heart. After the team introduced themselves, Ps Lee with Donna translating shared on the topic of ‘Worship’. Later they broke up into groups to answer some discussion questions. Mrs Choo conducted a children’s program concurrently.

The next day (Sunday, 27th July) started with breakfast at 7:30am, by 8 am everyone was gathered and seated ready for the program to begin. There were people from 2 other longhouses (Rh Telinting and Rh Patoh) that also came to listen to the Word being shared.
After a short time of worship led by Fionee, Suan Ewe and Donna shared about ‘Prayer’. They were then broken up into groups again for some practical exercise of praying for one another which was followed by a short break.
The second session of the morning was on the ‘Kingdom of darkness and Light’ that was taught by Dr Chan and Donna. Dr Chan ended the session with an altar call and almost everybody came forward with various needs to be prayed over. After the session, Dr Chan and Donna left with the people from Rh Telinting, to their longhouse.

The team was grateful to have the afternoon free that day. While the caught a nap, Ps Hendry taught the longhouse resident a few new songs, which they picked up without much effort. Later into the afternoon, the team was blessed with jungle fruits such as lumur, rambutans, durians, etc.

In the evening, after a sumptuous dinner, Ps Hendry again led in a time of worship. Suan Ewe then with Fionee as translator continued with her second part of sharing about ‘Prayer’ focusing on ‘Lighthouse’ prayer groups. The villagers were then given the opportunity to practice what a ‘Lighthouse’ prayer meeting agenda would look like. Ps Lee then ended the night with a sharing on ‘Holiness – Our bodies are Temples of the Holy Spirit’.
In Rh Telinting, Dr Chan shared about ‘Prayer’ and ‘The kingdom of darkness & light’.
Day 3 started with breakfast at 7:30am followed by a worship service led by Ps Peter. After a time of worship through song, Ps Peter preached on ‘Serving 2 masters’, he also summed up all that the team has shared over the last couple of days and put it in a context that was relevant to their lifestyle and culture. He ended the service with an altar all for all who would like to kick the smoking habit. 10 men came forward to be prayed over. Later they surrendered all their cigarettes and lighters to be burned.

Before the team embarked on their return journey, Ps Lee had the privilege of baptizing 2 adults (a couple), 3 children and an infant in the river. On the way back to Lubok Subong, the team reunited with Dr Chan and Donna at Rh Telinting for lunch. When lunch was over the team continued their journey to Lubok Subong by boat then to Ulu Layar Church by car.

That evening, after an early dinner, Ps Matthias’ wife led in a time of praise and worship. Unlike the longhouse, in the church we had the full band of instruments i.e. keyboard, drums, electric guitar.
Before we started the session for the night, Mrs Choo shared her testimony of how God has been carrying her through and sustaining her throughout the trip thus far. After that Ps Lee and Fionee again shared on the topic of ‘Worship’. After a short break, Suan Ewe and Donna shared on the topic of ‘Prayer’. Ps Peter Shin wrapped up the night by summing up all that was thought. He then gave an altar call for those who wanted healing.

After breakfast on the 4th day, Dr Chan spoke on the ‘Word’. Those who needed prayer for healing, etc were ministered to. After an early lunch the team started their return journey, first to Donna’s house for some awesome Sarawak laksa than to Kuching by bus.

In Kuching, the team put up the night in Nancy’s house. After a warm shower and dinner, the team was able to pray for each individual member of the family. The team caught the 9:35am flight back to Penang the next day.
